Swelco is specialist subcontract supplier of sheet metal laser cut components, laser profiles and fabrications to OEM’s and steel fabrication companies covering many industry sectors.

We operate from a modern purpose built factory with a total of 56,000 sq ft manufacturing space and utilise the latest technology along with traditional engineering skills to provide components and fabricated parts of consistent high quality and at competitive rates.

Our main processes are Laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, sheet metal fabrication and powder coating, although welding, fabrication and powder coating processes are undertaken to supplement our laser cutting and bending facility rather than as standalone subcontract resources. We supply through Wales, UK and internationally

Swelco was founded in 1926, originally as the Southern Welding Company and was based in Brixton, South London. In 1930’s the company re-located to Cwmgorse in South Wales. Over many decades the Southern Welding Company built a reputation for traditional engineering fabrication skills and was involved in a wide range of light, medium and heavy engineering, fabrication and assembly work.

In the late 1990’s the company’s direction changed, as well as its name, with the investment in laser cutting technology.

In 2002 Swelco merged with Altron Communications Equipment Ltd, the UK’s largest manufacturer of CCTV mounting hardware. Both companies then relocated into our current purpose built premises in Capel Hendre covering 56,000 square feet of productive area on a 7 acre site.

Laser cutting is now an integral part of what Swelco offers and along with CNC press brakes and other current equipment, we now offer market leading component production, with the support of an established engineering heritage, reaching back over eight decades.
